With a new year comes new responsibilities. When you are first getting started, preparation is the key to motivation. Until your running has become a habit (and it will!) 50% of your effort in the first few months goes toward just getting out the door, with 25% going toward covering the distance and 25% toward maintaining intensity. In other words the first step of your run will be the hardest.
There are a million excuses not to go for a run and so do yourself a favor and start eliminating as many of those as possible. The night before you run your gear should be laid out, your bottles should be filled and most importantly...your alarm clock should be set! The less time you spend searching for your Asics in the morning the less likely you'll be to throw in the towel.
